KEEPING YOU UP TO DATE WITH SECURITIES
Veronica Armstrong has been a practicing lawyer for longer than she cares to remember. But she keeps hearing someone in her head tell her practice makes perfect.
Veronica was born Chinese in apartheid South Africa. She has known almost all her life that her voice is her gift and she wanted to use it to improve the lives of Chinese people in South Africa. She didn’t use it much in her legal practice as a corporate and international finance lawyer, but it did motivate her to found, along with family and some friends, the only facility in South Africa for Chinese seniors. Aside from her children, Hong Ning Chinese Aged Home is Veronica’s proudest achievement.
Veronica transitioned from being the head of the international legal team of a major South African bank to a securities lawyer at the BC Securities Commission. She has worked in the securities arena since, and also added to her practice areas with corporate law and personal planning. As an entrepreneur, Veronica relates to the challenges business owners face, and she enjoys helping them find solutions. She has a long-time association with her colleagues, Harveen Thauli, whom she considers to be an analytical, thoughtful lawyer, and Mary Wong, an experienced investment firm compliance consultant.
Veronica abhors legalese, and tries to avoid it whenever she can. However, it is like gum stuck on one’s shoe—sometimes it cannot be moved, only improved.
Veronica Armstrong Law Corporation moved into its current office in Steveston on June 1, 2015. Veronica loves being in the eclectic and vibrant village. It energizes her, and the beautiful surroundings help remind her to be thankful for all her blessings.
